Slugs R Us

Are the Holidays making you Feel like a Slug?

Don’t you wish you had this garden view? I was wearing shorts for Christmas. It was 70′ here in Texas.

I had great plans for the Christmas Holidays.  Four days off from work.  I just knew I could get lots and lots of great things accomplished.

So did I get anything accomplished?  NO.

I didn’t even manage to get my “must get done” stuff done.

What happened?

Christmas Eve I woke up early to finish my present wrapping, living room cleaning and last minute cooking.  We ate seafood bisque as a family for dinner on Christmas Eve.  By the time I got home that night I was exhausted.

Then comes Christmas Day.  Present opening, more cooking and more eating.  I actually eat pretty healthy.  We had roasted turkey, roasted carrots, parsnips and cauliflower, fordhook lima beans and gingerbread cake made with almond flour.

After all the visiting we went home about 3pm.  Again I was exhausted.

Saturday was supposed to be my day to “get things done.”  What did I get done?  I read many books on Kindle Unlimited.  And I was tired again.

Sunday I had chores to do since I hadn’t done anything the day before.  We had a bad storm front heading our way so we went out and ran our errands and then I washed laundry and read some more.  I did manage to post something for Monday but it wasn’t very inspired.

So here i am on Tuesday night.  After a hard day at work I’m typing up my blog post for tomorrow.

We are heading into the New Year’s Weekend and I’m trying to figure out what I can do differently this time so I don’t fall behind and can possibly get some extra things done.

This is what I am thinking.

  1. Make sure I exercise.  I missed a workout last week and I think it hurt me.  The laying around and reading didn’t help either.
  2. Go to bed on time.  I stayed up later than usual and then slept in the next morning.
  3. Give myself a break.  Holidays are for visiting with family.  I need to stop stressing over what I’m not doing and enjoy the time I can spend with them.
  4. Make sure I eat correctly and at my usually scheduled times.  I ate a late lunch a couple of days and then didn’t eat any dinner.  I don’t think that helped my energy levels.
  5. Plan my time better.  Make sure I plan my work time for next weekend.  I just winged it last weekend and that didn’t work out so well for me.

That’s all I can think of at the moment.

I can tell you I feel more energized just sitting here typing this up.  Maybe I just needed to get up and DO something last weekend.
