One reason you aren’t achieving your goals is because you don’t know what you want.
Let’s walk through a goal setting activity. It’s called Envisioning Your Dream Life.
Sometimes you just need to let your imagination have free reign to see what it will tell you.
This exercise is simple but powerful. It starts with you envisioning your dream life as you first wake up to start your day.
Then you simply keep envisioning your dream life step by step. What happens next? What happens after that? You keep envisioning your dream life until you have envisioned it from the time you woke up until the time you went to bed.
Pay attention to all of the little things.
How do you feel? What do you smell? What do you see? Use all of your senses.
And most importantly write it all down so that you can revisit it.
Revisit the dream life you have written down at least every quarter. When you revisit the dream life your have envisioned update it. You are going to grow and change as you move through your life and the dream life you envision needs to grow and change with you.
This is a very powerful but simple goal setting activity. In order to set and reach your goals you need to know what you want and this activity will help you envision the life you want to lead.
