Everything we build must start with a firm and stable foundation. If we build on anything less eventually everything we have built will come tumbling down. What does the foundation of your life look like? What ground are you building on?
We all have things we need to clear out of our life to make way for change. To make way for the life we want to live.
It could be bad habits. It could be unsupportive friends. It could be guilt. It could be debt. What is stopping you from changing your life? What things are you teeter tottering on knowing you are going to crash and burn?
I’ve had to change habits in my life. I don’t get to read for pleasure as much as I used to. Instead I work on this blog and educate myself to improve my life. I’ve had to tell my money where I want it to go instead of spending willy nilly without a plan. I’ve had to change my eating to increase my energy and health.
None of these things sound fun do they? Yeah sometimes they are not. But if you want to build a new life you have to make some hard choices. You have to decide how to spend your time, spend your money and spend your energy. These choices will give you a good firm foundation to build on.
So what if you are in the hole under the foundation? You are so far under you don’t know how you will ever get out with more weight crashing on you all the time.
Pick one thing. What is causing you the most stress? How you spend your time, your money or your energy? Whichever is the most painful stop increasing the pain now. Stop digging your hole deeper and figure out a plan to climb out. It may not be easy. It may not be pretty. But you need to get out of the hole. Once you have a firm handle on that item go to the second. And set a plan for that. And remember this will take time. A building isn’t built in a day. The foundation is the most important part. Take your time and work on it.
